The Canadian government offers an online system which is used to manage Permanent Residency applications under three federal Immigration programs. These programs cater to both skilled workers and skilled trade workers with foreign experience who wish to become permanent residents.
Certain provinces also select candidates from the Express Entry (EE) pool of candidates to meet demands of local labour market shortage and offer their support to applicants.
A (CRS) comprehensive ranking system ranks applicants in the EE pool and a draw conducted almost every fortnight then offers ITA (invitation to apply for PR) to those who meet the minimum score In the draw.
- Federal skilled worker
FSW or the Federal skilled worker has been one of the top programs allowing skilled and experienced workforce to immigrate to Canada permanently. Prospective candidates are required to possess a minimum of one year of skilled work experience in addition to language, education and age requirements. - Federal Skilled Trade Worker
This program offers skilled trade workers the pathway to permanent residency. 2 years of full-time experience in the 5 years prior to submission of application is one amongst certain other requirements. - Canadian Experienced Class
This option is available to skilled foreign workers who have at least 1 year of full time Canadian work experience in the past 3 years. - Provincial Nominee Program
The PNP programs are different in nature catering to the needs of different provinces. They are jointly managed by federal and provincial governments of respective provinces. Provinces may nominate applicants who may be awarded additional 600 points to support their PR applications.
