IELTS is an Internationally recognized English Language test that is conducted in most countries across the globe. It is a standardized test that candidates take to provide proof of their English language skills. This test is jointly owned by British Council, IDP IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.
Candidates whose first language is other than English and who wish to study at a Canadian educational institution are required to provide a proof of their English language skills. For this purpose, such candidates usually take the IELTS Academic test.
In order to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency, applicants are required to submit proof of their English language or French language skills (English and French are official languages of Canada). IELTS General version is accepted proof of English language as part of the PR application.
